Australian Passing Flash Modification

How to rewire the Aussie headlights to raise when flashing your highbeams.

This project compliments the 'fog lamp' modification but can be implemented solely because of appearance reasons.

I originally decided to implement the 'fog lamp' modification as one of my first changes to the lighting system. But whith this mod came the problem that when I had the fog lamps on, how could I then flash any oncoming vehicles? This is the solution which allows for the pop up headlights to raise and all driving lights to illumintate on a stock probe. And in my case, only the lights within the pop up headlight assembly.

There is no re-wiring required for this mod other than inserting a power diode within the lighting harness.

1 x 1N5408(3A 1000V) power diode is required for this mod.

At this stage it is a good idea to either remove the battery connections or use a cordless soldering iron to solder the diode into place.

Removing the plastic cover beneath the steering column will allow you to isolate the required connector. A single screw located near the lower left of the plastic and the bonnet release piece will need to be removed.

Once the Combination switch connector has been located which is blue in colour, insert the power diode into the relevant location and solder into position.
